Our annual Spring Picnic is less than two weeks away!

Food – BBQ’d hot dogs, burgers, chips, cookies & soft drinks will be on sale

Games – Brandon James will coordinate basketball games.  Anyone volunteers to coordinate Field Games and Tennis matches?

Important Demos & Information:

  • Animal Control – The city’s new Animal Control Officer, Vivian Cooper, will present information about the city’s animal control laws, dealing with wildlife intrusions from baby raccoons, squirrels, etc.

  • College Park Aviation Museum exhibit with demonstrations on the science of flight.

  • Self-Defense Demo with Ms. Brittany Atkinson

  • Public Works video on a recycling facility recycling and composting displays and the opportunity for children to plant seeds in provided compost.

  • County Police Representatives our COPS Officer Sarita will demonstrate proper use of The Club

  • A Place for Everyone will have table of information and arts & crafts for kids.

  • U-MD Bus Passes- Residents can get a pass to ride the university busses – application forms will be available.

Plant exchange table – Now, as you prepare your spring gardens, is the perfect time to be thinking about gathering plants to share.  Annuals or perennials, decorative or edible—someone will want it.  Bring your plants with information that includes name of plant (if known) and whether it does best in “sun” or “shade.”

Rummage/White Elephant Sale to benefit our CPW-NW Program! The proceeds of this sale will benefit our Neighborhood Watch Program, and your contributions of knick knacks (figurines, decorative bottles, vases, etc.), games, toys, dolls, office supplies, books, picture frames, baby items, dishes, jewelry, etc. (but NO clothing, please!) would be most welcome! Music – Do you sing and/or play a musical instrument?  Now is the time to come show off your talent to benefit the community!  Come and share with us your gift of music – it would be most appreciated! J

Raffle/Door Prizes – Do you work for a company that has promotional T-shirts, jackets, duffle bags, caps, etc. to donate for this?  Your business would get a little publicity while helping us build community.

We’re looking forward to seeing hundreds of you at our 4th Annual Spring Community Picnic from 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 22nd, 2010 at the CPW Neighborhood Park (Swim Clubhouse in case of rain)!
